Why I Turned Tutor
Through my experiences as a public, private, charter, and online school teacher, the need for one-on-one instruction and extra support for every student was evident in each environment. Our classrooms are being packed with students even though we know smaller class sizes work better. The demands in curriculum fill each day to bursting, not giving us time to work on building relationships with each individual. Our students are starting to miss out on many of the critical skills that make strong, independent learners.
I started tutoring in order to create the type of environment I know will help address the needs of our current student population. We now have unlimited resources at our fingertips through technological advances. By creating a safe space for students to utilize these resources with a one-on-one mentor, they will be able to develop subject specific skills, while strengthening their identities as learners and problem solvers.

They find enjoyment connecting with every student both academically and personally. They understand that the truest and most noticeable growth can only happen when they get to know each student holistically. This relationship-building is the key to overcoming obstacles in learning and fostering development in specific subject areas. We acknowledge and love the fact that we have as much to learn from our students as they have to learn from us. Each student provides a new perspective, a new challenge, and a new opportunity to grow as educator and student together. This approach serves as the golden rule in our mentorship mentality.
